Welcome to the CAF website. These pages summarise the key information you need to know about the Common Assessment Framework (CAF).
Whether you are working for a statutory or voluntary agency or school, this website will help you understand your responsibilities and give you details of the support available.
Initially the CAF may appear daunting, however it is a simple step by step process to help you assess and support children in a co-ordinated way.
And you won't need to do the CAF all on your own - the whole idea of the CAF is to bring together other professionals who can help and support.
So if you identify a child or young person with additional needs, then work through the steps below and in next-to-no-time you'll be making progress.
- Where do I start?
- What is the Common Assessment Framework?
- What is the role of the Lead Professional?
- What do I need to do?
- CAF Forms

REMEMBER It is vital that professionals contact the CAF Central Records team when:
